  • Department of Art History and Theory

    This department provides theoretical courses and courses of English. The concept of the curriculum is based on the idea that a successful artist or designer needs a deep understanding of the art history, contemporary art theory, and its interactions with other humanities. The department encourages students to gain their knowledge actively and to cultivate their creative dispositions, and it strives to relate theoretical knowledge to the latest developments in art and design as much as possible.

  • Department of 3D Technology

    A department established out of the need to provide faculty-wide teaching of subjects in the fields of 3D printing, 3D scanning, and CNC and robotic machining. In terms of personnel and technology, the department is connected to the 3D Studio, which has been successfully implementing technologically demanding spatial projects at the faculty since 2007, utilizing unique know-how and methods of digital sculpting.

  • Department of Audiovisual Technology

    This department has been the guarantor of basic audiovisual literacy of FFA students since 1999. In addition to providing faculty-wide courses in the field of audiovisual media, the department serves as an inter-studio workplace, handling the practical completion of new media projects by students of all studios. The department offers consultations to students in the areas of photography, video, sound, and interactive realizations, and provides presentation and production equipment that can be borrowed free of charge by the entire academic community of the faculty. The department is also a frequently used training workplace for doctoral students.

  • Department of Design

    The youngest department within the faculty's structure, established in 2023. In addition to professionally oriented courses in the field of design, it coordinates the operation of selected faculty-wide workshops and workplaces.

  • Department of Traditional Media

    This department provides the infrastructure for the life drawing course, which is required for all FFA students; it also provides courses in painting and traditional printmaking techniques.

  • Office of Information Technology

    An office that, since the founding of the faculty, has been ensuring the operation of its computer network (school computers and servers, data switches and routers, structured cabling, end telephone lines, wireless network access points, etc.), and takes care of the computer classroom and study room. It provides a consistent user environment for all currently used computer platforms (central login system), email operation, domain name services, database services, file services, and also comprehensive web hosting including virtualization services. Last but not least, it participates in the integration of the faculty's study agenda with the central Information System of BUT.

  • Bookbinding Workshop

    The Bookbinding Workshop serves the faculty's academic community in fulfilling tasks related to study and teaching, as well as the faculty's publishing and promotional activities. The workshop is equipped with printing equipment for large-format printing, small-run digital printing, and finishing equipment for bookbinding. The workplace also provides teaching of specialized subjects, especially for the Design field.

  • Wood and Metal Workshops

    The workshops serve the students and staff of the faculty in fulfilling tasks related to study and teaching, or exhibition activities. They are equipped with professional woodworking and metalworking machinery and tools. Work in the workshops is possible under the supervision of the head, or after training and prior arrangement. The workshops also include a tool rental service.

    Large-format professional laser engraving equipment and a large-format vacuum press for plastic.

  • Ceramics Kiln

    The Ceramics Workshop serves students and staff of the faculty for the creation of spatial objects from ceramic materials. In the workshop, it is possible to fire terracotta, ceramic casting masses, chamotte and stoneware clays, and porcelain, including glazes on their surfaces. In exceptional cases, the ceramic kiln is used for heat curing of materials, or for working with sheet glass.

  • Studio Matter (Recycling Workshop)

    Matter is a place where FFA students and staff can obtain materials for their own creations for free. We established it in 2022 as a space where recyclable materials can be found to create further works.
