Quality Assessment

The Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) of Brno University of Technology (BUT) is a long-standing member of the international organization ELIA (www.elia-artschools.org) and the Association of Art Faculties of the Czech Republic, which the FFA co-founded at the end of 2016. Since 2023, the faculty has been a member of the Brno Game Cluster and has partnered with academic institutions in the field of audiovisual arts. The FFA underwent external international evaluation in 2007 (ELIA) and in 2019 (EQ-Arts). In 2018, the faculty was a co-researcher of the Centralized Development Project of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports aimed at Strengthening Mechanisms Necessary for Self-Evaluation and Accreditation Processes at Art Faculties of Non-Art Public Universities. In 2019, the faculty, together with the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, participated in the Research of the Social, Economic, and Cultural Background of Students of Higher Art Schools in the Czech Republic. In 2021, the faculty underwent an external investigation mapping the study and working environment with the aim of strengthening internal mechanisms in the area of social safety.

*The Register of Artistic Outputs (RUV) was officially introduced in 2012 by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MŠMT) as part of an effort to strengthen the position of arts in higher education. Art academies and faculties had long faced challenges in ensuring that their creative work was properly reflected not only in institutional evaluations and accreditation processes but also in funding. In 2016, the Higher Education Act (§ 77c) formalized RUV as a tool for recognizing and comparing artistic outputs within the Czech academic environment. RUV became one of the qualitative parameters for financing public universities, included as one of eight indicators considered in their budget performance, accounting for results from the previous five years.
