Sculpture Studio
The Sculpture Studio represents a creative center of contemporary sculpture on a European scale. Traditional sculptural practices are taught here alongside state-of-the-art digital sculpture. The human body stands at the beginning of the journey for understanding proportions of shapes and structures. The studio offers the possibility to develop traditional clay modeling and casting into plaster on the one hand, and to learn about 3D scanning, virtual modeling, 3D printing and robotic machining on the other. It is this combination of mastering both traditional and cutting-edge skills in digital sculpture that can lead students into completely new creative spaces, which is incredibly inspiring, but has not yet been researched in much depth. Both students and instructors have been cooperating in this field with counterparts from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Tomáš Medek is a sculptor preoccupied with studying spatial structures in detail. In recent years, he has been intensively researching 3D technologies in sculpture which has enabled him create immensely complex structural objects which would be not feasible without these new digital methods.
