The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FFA Academic Senate) is a self-governing representative body established by the Higher Education Act (Section 23, Subsection 2 and Section 25, Subsection 1, Letter A). Its members are elected from the ranks of the academic community of the faculty (i.e., both students and teachers; FFA BUT applies a single-member district voting system). The FFA Academic Senate consists of 11 members, of which 7 are academic staff and 4 are students. The term of office of the elected representatives is a maximum of three years. The senate is led by a chairman and two vice-chairs (the head of the academic staff chamber and the head of the student chamber). Within the senate, there are committees focused on specific areas: economic, legislative. The FFA Academic Senate in particular: decides on the proposal for the appointment of a Dean, or his/her dismissal from office, approves the distribution of the faculty's financial resources and controls their use, approves the faculty's internal regulations and submits them for approval to the Academic Senate of the university, approves the conditions for admission to study in study programmes implemented at the faculty, approves the annual report on activities and the annual report on the faculty's financial management, approves the long-term plan and its annual update, approves the dean's proposal for the appointment and dismissal of members of the Disciplinary Committee and members of the faculty's Artistic Board, comments on proposals for study programs implemented at the faculty and on the dean's intention to appoint Vice-Deans, decides on the establishment, merger, integration, division or abolition of faculty units. Meetings of the senate are publicly accessible. In accordance with the Dean's Directive, members of the academic senate receive a monthly remuneration.
