We will provide a link to our webspace and futher information. In this workshop, we want to examine (pop)cultural practices of femininity and feminist positions: what knowledge systems do they draw on? What are their concepts of the (lived) body? We will dive into the contestations of knowledge and experience, the practices of resistance and empowerment and the powerscapes of capitalist regimes. Drawing upon our backgrounds of cultural studies and studies of religion, embodiment theories and feminist-materialisms, we will give a theoretical impulse, work on materials in small groups and open a space for interdisciplinary discussion.
Marita Günther studied cultural anthropolgy, studies of religions and early history in Berlin & Tübingen, Germany and Wellington New Zealand. She is currently finishing her PhD in studies of religions, focusing on the entanglements of epistemologies and gender in modern and matriarchal spiritualities. She teaches classes on gender & religions at different universities and disciplines. Marita also co-hosts a blog on cultural approaches to witches & the town of Marburg, Germany.
Lea Maria Spahn studied philosophy, gender studies and educational sciences in Marburg, Germany and Fairfield, USA. She is currently at FAVU as post-doctoral researcher with a project on posthuman environments through ecological politics, feminist phenomenology and materialisms. In her dissertation, she worked on movement improvisation and the ageing body. Lea is a member of the core team of the interdisciplinary master degree on 'art education at schools' and the Czech-German Agronaut*Collective.
