Position opening at FFA BUT: Academic Staff Position in the Visiting Artist’s Studio, app. deadline 31 May 2025
The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology (FFA BUT) is offering an academic position: Assistant in the Visiting Artist’s Studio, with an expected start date in September 2025 (or as agreed). The position will be filled on a part-time basis (0.5 FTE).
The Visiting Artist’s Studio provides faculty students each semester with a new opportunity to engage with a distinguished figure from the world of art or design. Both the format and content of the instruction vary each semester, based on the concept proposed by the current visiting studio leader. These prominent artists and designers are selected from a list of potential candidates compiled by faculty members and doctoral students on the basis of their professional recommendations. The visiting artists often introduce differing approaches; therefore, teaching may not follow the standard weekly-consultation schedule. The programme can involve several days of intensive collaborative work, combined with periods of more individual, distance-based communication.
Job Description
- Cooperation in the organisational and operational support of the studio,
- Assisting in the selection of the visiting lecturer (studio leader),
- Providing feedback to students, including supervising and reviewing final theses,
- Monitoring developments in art education and integrating innovative methods into teaching practice,
- Participating in the faculty’s artistic and research activities.
Requirements
- A university degree (minimum of a master's degree),
- Fluent English (both spoken and written),
- Organisational skills, excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team,
- Teaching experience and skills in the field of art and/or design.
