Adolf Loos a konfiskované vzpomínky rodiny Viktora rytíře von Bauera-Rohrfelden / Adolf Loos and Confiscated Memories of the Family of Viktor Ritter von Bauer-Rohrfelden
The connection between information from preserved confiscation lists and visual material from expropriated photographs reveals the intense relationship between two natives of Brno: the architect Loos and the sugar manufacturer Bauer. Through the images captured by an exceptionally gifted amateur photographer, who, quite unconventionally, was also a builder himself, the publication not only presents architecture but also sheds light on the lifestyle of its users. These findings stem from research that led to the discovery of new realizations by Adolf Loos within the interiors of a classicist castle located in the vicinity of the Brno exhibition center. This Brno realization of Adolph Loos was commissioned by the industrialist Viktor Knight Bauer von Rohrfelden. In her investigation, Jana Kořínková relied on existing confiscation inventories, which document the currently missing interior furnishings and architectural alterations made during the renovations of Bauer's mansion in Brno. Thanks to this research, it is now possible to define the original scope of the modifications proposed by Loos, which is disproportionately larger than initially anticipated.
