ČLÁNEK II [ARTICLE II]
Comic books often centre around heroes, and this one is no different. It tells the story of a person who demonstrated immense courage during one of the most challenging periods in our history—the Protectorate. From that time, we remember several famous names—Kuttelwascher, Peřina, Gabčík, Kubiš, František, Balabán, Mašín, Morávek, and others—who are revered as symbols of bravery. Alongside these well-known figures, there are also lesser-known heroes. One such individual is Chaplain Vladimír Petřek, who risked his life by providing sanctuary in the church crypt to the most wanted “criminals” of the time—the assailants of Protector Heydrich. Petřek's heroism may have seemed ordinary, yet it was incredibly perilous, challenging to comprehend, and almost superhuman in its ethos. Similar acts of courage were displayed by hundreds of nameless women and men, although their stories may not be found within these pages. Let this comic serve as a fleeting tribute to them.
