The publication presents a collection of projects about Matrena Makovická, created between 2018 and 2022 by the artist Katarína Hládeková. The book can be viewed as a catalogue of the artist’s works. However, since it is framed by one extensive thematic cycle, it can also be read as an artist’s book, consisting of a carefully assembled collage of data, poetry, and humour. It looks to the past, drawing out the personality of a woman who has, until now, remained in the silence of oblivion. Through her example, the publication seeks to explore possibilities for alternative interpretations of history, in the name of a longed-for transformation of the present.
