Slovník anonymity [Dictionary of Anonymity]
The book is the result of both artistic and theoretical research. It comprises 188 nominal and conceptual entries, focusing on identity presentation strategies in contemporary art, as well as its increasing mystification and mutation. It primarily addresses the phenomenon of “anonymity,” examining the free encyclopaedia Wikipedia as an online resource that provides mystifying information within this context. The dictionary delves into approaches where authors manipulate various forms of concealment and subsequent disclosure of identity, alongside current trends in renaming as symbolic tools of power. It concentrates on the period from the 1990s, with excursions into the history of Slovak, Czech, and global visual art, along with overlaps into literature, music, and film. Specifically, it specializes in four bipolar pairs: anonymous/celebrity, group/group exhibition, street art/Net Art, and signature art/untitled art.
