VÝTVARNÍCI NA VUT V BRNĚ [ARTISTS AT BUT]
The publication deals with the role of key artistic personalities at BUT and reflects the history of the teaching of artistic disciplines from 1899 to the present day. The research is the outcome of collaboration between faculty members and doctoral students from the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Architecture. While initially established as the Czech Technical University in Brno, the institution has always incorporated the teaching of art disciplines alongside technical education. This inclusion expanded notably after the establishment of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering in 1919, which also welcomed sculptors and painters into its teaching staff. Moreover, many of the architects among the faculty members were actively involved in projects related to Brno's technological buildings. A significant development in this regard occurred with the accreditation of the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1993, the third “academy” of fine arts in the country, alongside those in Prague.
