Když se na jaře roku 2018 dostaly na veřejnost marketingové praktiky společnosti Cambridge Analytica, kdekdo se tvářil překvapeně. Překvapení byli evropští i američtí zákonodárci, lídři, lídryně, celé vlády. Opravdu ale nikdo z nich ani dalších expertů netušil o existenci Facebook API, nikdy jej nepoužil, či si alespoň nepřečetl jeho dokumentaci a nemohl tedy vědět, že tento únik, či spíš jen použití dat, bylo něčím naprosto normálním? Kdo něco takového věděl, byly softwarové umělkyně… V přednášce se zaměříme na softwarové umění na Internetu před kauzou CA a po ní. Mohl nám software art dávat znamení, které jsme neslyšeli? A jaké jsou pro software art i sociologický výzkum důsledky data-lockdownu zavedeném v reakci na kauzu CA? Jsou možnosti, jak pokračovat? A proč vůbec? K čemu nám je software art v síti, která je horizontální a demokratická, nebo by snad bylo lepší říct: která je městem, jenž nám nepatří, ale v němž musíme žít?

When Cambridge Analytica's marketing practices became public in the spring of 2018, everyone looked surprised. European and American lawmakers, leaders, entire governments were surprised. But did any of them or other experts really have no idea that the Facebook API existed, had never used it or at least read its documentation, and therefore could not have known that this leak, or rather just the use of the data, was something perfectly normal? Who knew something like that were software artists... In this talk we will focus on software art on the Internet before and after the CA case. Could software art have been giving us signs we didn't hear? And what are the implications for software art and sociological research of the data-lockdown imposed in response to the CA case? Are there ways forward? And why at all? Of what use is software art in a network that is horizontal and democratic, or perhaps it would be better to say: that is a city that does not belong to us but in which we must live?
