Original Abstract

Přední český malíř Jan Zrzavý žil celý život poměrně otevřeně život gay muže: o vztahy se ženami se nepokoušel, po řadě trpkých milostných zklamání mezi dvacátým a třicátým rokem života se rozhodl žít single s náhodnými, spíše fyzickými, známostmi. Jak se jeho jinakost projevila v jeho tvorbě, jaké měl tehdy LGBT+ člověk možnosti žít otevřený a naplněný život, jaké existovaly queer životní modely a jaký queer životní model představuje sám Zrzavý? A jak se jeho jinakost snažil už za jeho života, ale i po jeho smrti retušovat dějepis umění?

English abstract

The leading Czech painter Jan Zrzavý lived his entire life as a relatively openly gay man: he did not try to have relationships with women, and after a series of bitter love disappointments between the ages of twenty and thirty, he decided to live single with casual, rather physical, acquaintances. How was his otherness manifested in his work, what opportunities did an LGBT+ person have at that time to live an open and fulfilling life, what queer life models existed, and what queer life model does Zrzavý himself represent? And how did his otherness try to retouch the history of art, both during his lifetime and after his death?
