Studio I - Body Design - winter

The course has two main tasks - common project and individual project.
The theme of the common project will be defined at the beginning of the semester.
Task for the 1st semester as part of the common project: to acquire new experience of team creative work
Task for the first semester of the individual project:
Recommended topic: Self-portrait in terms of social determinants
Recommended technique: photographs

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student is mentally adapting to the university type of learning, specifically to studio learning.
The student will acquire basic mechanisms suitable for conceptual creation - possibilities of searching for themes, meaning of sketching, meaning of resource search, importance of consultations.
The student learns to articulate his ideas both verbally and in sketches.
The student will learn the basic principles of consultation - scrolling and rotating ideas through communication with the course manager and colleagues.
Student will get acquainted with the team and will participate in a collective project according to her possibilities. In the first semester, it can be an active help associated with learning from more experienced ones.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite is defined by artistic and theoretic abilities shown at entrance exams.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The basic method is consultation.
The supplementary methods are:
- workshop - focused on the practical components of creation - at least 1 per semester - eg physical exercise suitable for performance, clothing editing workshop, workshop with different materials
- guest consultations - consultation of individual projects with an invited specialist - usually before the end of the semester
- excursions - mostly in the context of a common project
- presentations of professionals - in connection with a common project
- outdoor sympozium

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

By completing an active participation in at least one joint project, submitting a photographic documentation and with at least 70% attendance at the consultations, the student will receive a credit.
If one of these components is not met, the student has the chance to correct the situation by fulfilling the individual task.
The individual project will culminate as final project of semester and will be commissioned by the commission.

Course curriculum

1st - 2nd week - presentation of the work and experience made between the semesters, setting up a common task, determining the process of its solution, providing theoretical background and literature and accompanying events.
3rd - 5th week - usually work on a common project
6th week - completion of a common project and feedback
7th - 13th week - work on individual projects
11th week - excursion, outdoor sympozion
13th week - consultation with guest

The timetable may vary according to the terms of the common project.

Aims

Introduction to studies. Possibilities of communication with the teacher and the group. Possibilities of forms and attitudes towards solutions of relevant or personal themes during common studio consultations.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Obligatory attendance at 70%.
Mandatory participation in at least one joint project per semester.
Photographic documentation of a common project and individual work.
