Art after 2000 (seminar)

This course is a follow-up of the Art after 2000 winter course. The seminars will be based on critical reading and discussing selected text (thematically related to the winter-term predecessor of this course).

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students are able to work with available information sources on contermporary art; they can describe, analyze, or critically interpret the chosen topics. On their seminar presentations, students demonstrate the ability to choose and order information and choose an adequate way of their interpretation.
Prerequisites
A good knowledge of the 20th century art. Students have attended and gained credits from the "Art after 2000 I (Winter)" course.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Emphasis is placed on individual preparation of students before seminars (reading texts); during the seminars the discussion is steered so all students have the opportunity to engage in the discussion to deepen their understanding of the discussed text.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
The credit is awarded on the basis of completed attendance (2 abstentions are tolerated), active attendance at the seminars and submission of essay.
Course curriculum
Individual seminars have a form of discussions based on readings of the selected texts. During the semester, the timely art events (exhibitions, artworks...) are discussed.

Aims
Students will get a better knowledge of current trends in contermporary art, important personalities and events. They will be able to develop individual attitudes towards the issues in contemporary art and discuss these issues.

Attendance at seminars is mandatory (3 absences accepted).
