Fashion in art and art in fashion

Man is a part of nature, he has natural needs to explore his own body, cultural interaction with it, attempts to stand out from the crowd of fellow tribesmen. Clothing, inextricably linked with the human body, has a number of functions, primarily protective. The value of the rest is dynamically changeable depending on fashion trends.
The algorithm is simple – a person, under the influence of evolutionary development, progress, due to events and phenomena, creates a rejection of the outdated, moving towards the new, a certain trend is created, repeated by more and more people, introducing the concepts of fashion.
Craving for beauty is one of the human needs. The creation of beauty in any cultural form occurs at the time of the dominance of certain fashion trends and general views in society. The course is turning attention on tipping points in history of world culture and fashion, the fundamental laws of the cultural and historical development of mankind the inseparable connection of the human body with art and fashion. Study the course will give an opportunity: to get an integral system of knowledge about the world cultural, art and design historical process, periodization, features of origin and formation.
A huge number of phenomena, innovations, inventions in world design deserves our attention and in-depth study.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Graduates of the course are oriented in requirements for the formation of the necessary artistic and plastic images and the introduction of graphic and compositional means, in order to achieve the expressiveness of the design project; will able to demonstrate the skills to analyze the dialectic of the relationship between form and style in different historical periods of artistic development of art and design.

• Hairstyles – tipping points
• Body deformation trend in fashion
• First pants, working protective clothes, history of jeans
• History of military clothing, design of modern uniform
• Into the history of sportswear, trousers in women's wardrobe
• Fur in history and fashion, technology
• The art of folk costume, national motives in fashion
• Ugly fashion, rebellion against «pure and beautiful»
• Biomimicry, bionic approach in design and fashion
• Parametric, combinatoric modeling of clothes
• Fragrance fashion, smell design
Work placements
Aims
The course is aimed at studying the relationship between the concepts of culture, art, design and fashion. It enables students:
- to be able to determine the affiliation of individual design products to certain artistic trends and styles, their place in the overall history of art and design;
- to demonstrate the skills to analyze the dialectic of the relationship between form and style in different historical periods of artistic development of art and design;
- to substantiate on the basis of theoretical knowledge the point of view on design, idea and artistic means of its embodiment in creative design projects.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Teaching takes place in the classrooms of the KTDU FaVU BUT weekly in hours determined by the schedule. At least 80% attendance is required.
