English Intermediate BA 2 - Summer

Students enhance their vocabulary, speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills at intermediate level. They improve their knowledge of various grammar phenomena such as conditionals, modals, wish sentences, reported speech, etc. They learn to speak both about general topics and topics related to their artistic disciplines. This course corresponds to B1 level of English.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Assessment consists of a non-letter grade and a letter grade. In order to obtain the non-letter grade, students have to submit all assignments and pass the tests writtent during the semester at an average of 60 or more%. For the final, letter grade, students have to pass the final, general test at a score of 50% and more.
Students will write 1 - 3 short assignments during the semester, including the potential rewrites recommened by the course teacher - these will not be classified.
Final test mapping the knowledge of grammar and vocabulary (B1).
Students who will not have handed in the written assignments (even though they passed the final test) will not be classified.
Students are entitled for one regular and two resit exam dates.
Two absences per semester are allowed.

Aims
Improving of complex language skills and preparation for the general linal B1 test at the end of the summer semester.
Continuous assessment: essays, tests, papers , general test at the B1 level at the end of the semester. Students should be able to describe their artistic project both in a written and spoken form, they should be able to understand a short text from an art magazine, understand the basic ideas contained in an interview/lecture/presentation of a native speaker (artist, theoretician).
