RISO Lab
FaVU-RIS1Acad. year: 2024/2025
Risograph has been relatively little used up until recently when became an increasingly popular high-speed digital printing system based on stencil printing (similar to screen printing technology). Although the machine is very similar to a xerox machine, it works completely differently. It has gained popularity around the world among low-cost printing due to its relatively low acquisition and running costs, speed, and peculiar print quality. It has become a popular printing technique for original prints and posters. Students will gradually, theoretically, and practically, get acquainted with printing on Risograph. They will receive the necessary information about the differences between different printing technologies. They will learn how to create templates and operate the Riso EZ 571E printing machine. The course also includes basic work with Adobe Photoshop software which allows students to create a template from the image template for trapping four colors, and Adobe InDesign, where they will deepen their skills in preparing and exporting a document for printing on Risograph. The main goal of the course is to support students' creative activities in the field of creating low-cost original prints and publications, as well as to provide an assistance in their artistic development.

Aims
Students learn how to use technology of the digital printer Risograph EZ 571E and a specific way of preparing print data for riso-print. After mastering the practical operation of the machine, students design their own original project, which they later print in 35 copies in the form of two-color printing.
