Course detail
Text in Artistic Practice
FaVU-1TvUPAcad. year: 2024/2025
The course in the form of practical seminars allows to acquire the basic habits of writing texts accompanying artistic practice. Students can apply these habits both in their studies (in preparation for the Public Presentation of the semester project or in the creation of the Final Thesis Documentation) and in professional artistic careers, or in other roles they may take up in artistic practice (curating, art criticism, organizing exhibitions and festivals, cultural management, etc.). Through reading selected examples and subsequent practical exercises, students will explore the basic genres of writing associated with artistic practice, such as the artist statement, curatorial text, exhibition review, and grant application. The seminar is taught in several small groups. The class takes the form of a series of specifically focused assignments, the mastery of which students verify through group feedback.
