Basics of Photography 1

The course introduces students in detail to the basics of practical photography and the possibility of its application in artistic creation. Includes practice with dslr and mirrorless digital camera. Basics of analog photography. Introduction to the basics, composition, conceptualization and framing of pictorial composition. Working with light, shadow and time. Practicing digital photography in the studio and outdoors.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Credit awarded based on verification of attendance and exercises submitted.

Teaching takes place in the classrooms of the FFA BUT in the hours determined by the schedule. Attendance is compulsory (2 unexcused absences allowed). Higher number of absences can be compensated by submitting an alternative assignment after agreement with the teachers. 

 

Aims

Students will learn theoretical and practical knowledge essential for the mastering of analogue and digital photography.

Upon completion of the course, students will: 

- acquire basic theoretical knowledge in the field of photography  

- acquire the professional skills necessary to choose the appropriate technique and technology, format and method of presentation and dissemination of their own work  

- are able to create their own digital photographic works  

- are able to create documentary photographs, as well as documentary images of their work  

- are able to apply their acquired knowledge and experience in their own studio work and multidisciplinary artistic production.
