Results of the internal competition to support artistic and creative activities of FFA students (2023)
In 2023, 92 projects were presented to the FFA BUT competition, designed to support the artistic and creative endeavors of its bachelor's and master's students. These submissions collectively requested grants surpassing 1.5 million CZK. After a collaborative discussion and thorough review of each application, the committee—comprised of Veronika Vlková, Tomáš Medek, Lenka Klodová, and Filip Cenek—chose to fund 88 projects, distributing up to 950,000 CZK in total. Rejections were based on reasons such as the absence of a structured budget, vague outcomes, or late submission of applications.
To ensure the maximum number of quality projects received funding, the committee opted to decrease individual project budgets. Another factor in the decision-making process was determining if a project would culminate in a bachelor's thesis. For the upcoming year, the committee has proposed providing all bachelor's projects with a fixed amount, contingent upon the submission of acceptable bachelor's thesis documentation to BUT IS, mirroring the current approach to diploma projects.
The committee also emphasizes that artistic creation, signified by work on the clause, is inherent in art college education. Consequently, financial reimbursement for personal studio time shouldn't be included in project expenses. The final grant sums were derived by averaging the amounts suggested by each committee member. Grant recipients will be notified about the payment procedures via a separate email. A feedback session concerning the results has been scheduled for the applicants on March 27, 2023, from 15:00–16:00 in room U2/324.
