AGUSTIN GENOUD: TRANS SYNTHETIC VOCALITIES
The workshop seeks to develop a factory of dissenting voices. Experiment and go through singing to deconstruct stratified hegemonic constructions within the subjective, bodily and social hegemonic platform. We will explore how to treat the voice apparatus as a producer of modular sound designs in real time. Focusing on technical aspects of voice and sound we will experience how to produce noises not assigned to humanoid vocal capacity and develop a hybrid work with technology, living and non living matter. The objective is to advance on an exploration of vocal abilities from a parametric and synthetic point of view of sound production throughout the body. A post human and animalistic approach is used to understand the transitions between electronic and organic bodies; focusing on intensity production based on a spectralist and materialistic performance practice. Through a series of exercises and processes, we will explore anatomically, physically and electronically the production of body and voice sounds. In the workshop you will see techniques of care and cultivation of the voice and body for beginners as well as advanced techniques of singing and expanded voice. The techniques and exercises to explore are also useful to have a better understanding of the voice apparatus, its health and good maintenance in any type of singing or voice projection and performing technique. No prior knowledge is necessary.
What is needed?
Please bring your own computer with installed Max/MSP software and soundcard.
Don't have Max/MSP? You can download free trial version here: https://cycling74.com/downloads.
Don't have soundcard? Don't worry – we will have some for share at the place.
Who is welcome?
The workshop is absolutely open for beginners, and also for advanced users. All kinds of knowledge are welcome! If you are experienced in body performance or voice, and don't have a clue about computers or machines, or you are experienced programmer who haven't been in contact with performance practises don't worry. We can learn from each other. Let's build a trans-pedagogical system!
What are we going to do?
We will work with our body on our voice and several elements for sound producing and manipulation. We will use patches made by Agustin for human-machine performance practise.

AGUSTIN GENOUD (Argentina, TRRUENO)
I work as a performer, musician and scholar in the fields of contemporary voice, post-humanism & new media. I build algorithms and systems that expand and transform the vocal sound production. I create expanded voice techniques that disrupts and interfere the humanly assigned sounds to the vocal tract and try to expand those capacities through machinic and animalistic behaviours. I’ve been heard at Sonandes Sound Art International Biennal / Music Makers Hack Lab – CTM Festival / Pure Data Convention / Centro Nacional de la Música / The Wrong International Biennal / Tsonami Sound Art Festival / Festival Internacional de Música Experimental 2017 / Metabody Symposium / New Materialisms Symposium / Colón Theatre Experimental Centre, among many other places. As a scholar and lecturer my work deals around post-humanism, new materialisms, expanded voice performances & biopolitics, I teach and investigate in groups at the National University for the Arts (New Media Department), The Buenos Aires University (Philosophy Department) & The National University of San Martín (Arts Department).
