Our identities, modes of communication, and everyday social realities are largely organized around digital platforms, whether it's Instagram, Tiktok, X, or Google. The control, logic, design and method of archiving our digital footprints are centred in the hands of a tiny group of people. Is this environment still a place where artists can freely shape archives without multiplying the commercial logic of mainstream platforms that depend on the exploitation of human and natural resources? Dušan Barok, founder of the research platform Monoskop, will speak about the importance and role of alternative archives in the present day in the opening lecture of the Videogram series.
