Using artificial intelligence tools in fulfilling study obligations
Utilisation of artificial intelligence tools (also known as AI) in student work [1] at FFA BUT is possible under the condition that AI serves as a means for exploring and understanding the chosen topic or issue. Incorporating outputs created by artificial intelligence algorithms into the work does not absolve the author of responsibility for the submitted work and its quality.
Principles for using artificial intelligence in an academic environment
- Students are required to respect existing academic integrity rules when using AI, which in this case primarily means fulfilling the obligation to appropriately cite the methods and tools used in the assignment's processing.
- The final, submitted version of student works must be the result of creative work by students. The assisting role of AI in the creation of the work must be stated.
- If it is found that a student's work or a significant part of it represents an unedited, uncommented, uncited, or uncritically used and further unprocessed result of an AI application, the work can be considered as plagiarism.
[1] By student works, we mean results created within the framework of studies as a response to assignments (seminar papers, final exams in studios, and the like), respective partial outputs (e.g. treatises on a doctoral thesis) and final study outcomes (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral theses).
