The book, intended for those interested in studying or currently enrolled at FFA BUT, as well as for colleagues at other art schools, and anyone intrigued by the happenings and advancements within these institutions, provides a comprehensive insight into the intellectual milieu at the faculty. For the book's purpose, fresh profile texts were crafted for the sixteen studios available for prospective students. Silvie Šeborová conducted interviews with studio supervisors, focusing on pedagogical approaches and delineating the fundamental mission of each studio. Considerable space was given to reflections on the evolving paradigms of artistic media, along with the changing understanding of pedagogical methods and roles. The book aims to furnish a clearly situated perspective on the influential forces shaping the faculty at various levels. To this end, it concludes with three interviews where PhD students engage their mentors in deliberations on specific topics, encompassing design thinking, the relevance of traditional media, and the challenges posed by research through art. Rather than presenting rigid assessments or definitions, these interviews present insights as provisional and ever evolving. Simultaneously, they provide an opportunity to arrive at a more robust, albeit transient and adaptable, comprehension of the essence of art education.
