Research Paper Seminar 1

The course consists of three parts: seminars, workshops, and individual tutorials with the research paper supervisor. In seminars, student learn the basics of academic writing, examine challenges posed by writing about practice-based research, and practice their writing skills through individual and group assignments. Regular workshops facilitate the writing process through group feedback sessions and discussions about the obstacles that students encounter while writing. Individual tutorials with the research paper supervisor focus on specific issues arising from individual research projects and take place based on individual needs of students and with a view to the completeness of their work.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Seminars and workshops take place at the premises of the FFA BUT according to the course schedule. Tutorials take place at dates and times determined by the tutor. Students are required to participate in scheduled tutorials and have attendance of more than 70% in seminars and workshops.
Aims
Students are able to implement a research plan on a relevant topic and write a research paper based on that topic in keeping with high standards of writing in the field of contemporary art and design.

3. Writing process: deciding on a title, writing an abstract, choosing the right structure — IMRaD, non-academic and experimental approaches, the relationship between form and content.
